What we do

Temporary & permanent system inspection

All temporary edge protection systems installed on construction sites must be inspected before use, after any event that could affect stability, and at regular intervals during use. Permanent systems require periodic inspection to verify continued integrity of anchors, posts, rails and connections. Our rope access teams carry out these inspections safely on any structure, providing written records and certificates as appropriate.

What the inspection covers

Our inspection covers the condition and security of base fixings or ballast, the integrity of vertical posts and horizontal rails, the condition of infill panels or mesh, the correct height and loading capacity of the system, and the condition of any signage or demarcation. Defects are recorded with photographic evidence and classified by severity.

Certificates & documentation

We provide inspection certificates in a format suitable for inclusion in your site safety file, CDM documentation or insurance records. All findings are clearly presented with photographic evidence, defect classifications and recommended actions, giving duty holders the documentation they need to demonstrate compliance.

Remedial works & follow-up

Where systems are found to be non-compliant or at risk, we provide written recommendations and can carry out remedial works directly, avoiding the need to mobilise a separate contractor. This single-supplier approach reduces delay between inspection and resolution and keeps your site safety file complete and up to date.

Why Think Access

Independent inspection by a competent person provides assurance that edge protection systems are fit for purpose and legally compliant. Think Access provides this service with clear documentation and practical recommendations.

F.A.Q’s

Our inspection team holds relevant working at height and IRATA qualifications, and is familiar with the applicable British Standards, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and HSE guidance documents relating to edge protection.

Annually as a minimum, and after any event that may have damaged the system. Many insurance policies require documented annual inspection of roof-level safety systems.
