Structural Integrity Inspections via Rope Access.

Think Access carries out structural integrity inspections on buildings, bridges, towers and industrial structures using IRATA rope access. Our teams provide close-access visual and physical assessment of structural elements, delivering condition reports that support maintenance planning and safety management.

What we do

Close-access structural inspection

Structural integrity inspection requires close physical access to every element of the structure not feasible from ground level or from a distance using binoculars or drones. Rope access provides our inspectors with face-to-face contact with every beam, column, joint, weld and connection, regardless of height or architectural complexity. This level of access is the only way to identify defects that would be missed by remote observation.

Steel, concrete & masonry assessment

We inspect structural steel for corrosion, coating breakdown, mechanical damage, weld defects and connection distress. We inspect concrete for cracking, spalling, carbonation, reinforcement corrosion and delamination. Masonry structures are assessed for mortar joint erosion, cracking, movement and bulging. In each case, findings are recorded, photographed and classified by severity before we leave site.

Structured condition reports

Our inspection reports include a structured condition assessment by element type, a defect schedule with severity classification and recommended action, annotated photographs referenced to an elevation drawing, and an overall condition grading for the structure or element group. Reports are delivered in a format agreed with the client and can be tailored to support engineer-led assessments, insurance requirements or asset management records.

Supporting engineer-led assessments

Where a structural engineer requires close-access inspection data to inform their assessment, we provide the access capability and systematic recording support they need. Our technicians work to the engineer’s inspection protocol, collecting crack width readings, delamination tap test results, carbonation depth measurements and material samples at specified locations giving the engineer the quality of data they need without requiring them to work at height themselves.

Why Think Access

Structural integrity inspection from ropes provides the level of access and detail that other inspection methods cannot match. Think Access delivers the assessment your structure needs, however high or complex.

F.A.Q’s

Yes. We regularly work alongside structural engineers who carry out the professional assessment while we provide the access. The engineer assesses, we provide physical access and record findings under their direction.

Yes. Our inspection reports are structured to provide the condition documentation required for insurance renewal, dilapidations surveys and property acquisition due diligence.
