Custom Rigging Systems via Rope Access.
Think Access designs and assembles custom rigging systems for unusual lifting and positioning challenges using IRATA rope access. When standard lifting equipment cannot solve the problem, we engineer a bespoke solution using pulley systems, blocks, slings, anchors and guides.

What we do

When custom rigging is required
Custom rigging is required when standard lifting methods cranes, hoists or rope access hand-carried do not fit the physical constraints of the situation. This may be because the load is in an unusual location, because the available anchor points are non-standard, because the load path involves tight turns or restricted passages, or because a combination of horizontal and vertical movement is required to reach the final installation position.

Custom system design
Our rigging specialists design custom systems using mechanical advantage pulley systems, redirects, snatch blocks and purpose-made frames where standard equipment cannot be used. Each system is calculated for safe working load, with factors of safety appropriate to the application and the consequence of failure. The design is documented and reviewed before any load is applied.

Fabrication of custom lifting equipment
We design and fabricate custom lifting beams, spreader frames and load spreaders for specific load configurations where standard lifting equipment is not appropriate. Fabricated items are designed to a defined safe working load, proof tested before first use and marked with their load rating and test date in accordance with applicable requirements.

Structural engineering collaboration
Where the loads are significant or where the structural implications of anchor placement require engineering assessment, we work with structural engineers to confirm that the proposed rigging arrangement is safe for the structure as well as the load. This collaborative approach ensures that the rigging design addresses both the lifting requirement and the structural capacity of the building or asset at every anchor point.
Why Think Access
The most difficult lifts are the ones that fall outside standard procedures. Think Access develops custom solutions that make the apparently impossible achievable, safely and in compliance with applicable lifting regulations.
