Electrical Inspection and Testing via Rope Access

Think Access carries out inspection and testing of high-level electrical installations using IRATA rope access. We verify compliance with BS 7671, carry out routine periodic inspection and testing, and provide certification for electrical systems that cannot be safely accessed without specialist equipment.

What we do

Periodic inspection & testing support

Periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations is a legal requirement for most commercial and industrial premises, and a condition of most insurance policies. In large buildings with high-level electrical systems, a thorough inspection is impossible without elevated access. Our rope access teams work alongside your NICEIC or NAPIT-registered contractor to inspect and test luminaires, distribution equipment, containment and cable runs at height.

Visual inspection of cable management

We carry out visual inspections of cable management, checking for mechanical damage, improper support spacing, inadequate earthing and deterioration of insulation or terminations. Findings are recorded photographically and reported in a format that integrates directly with your electrical contractor’s EICR documentation.

Dead testing at height

Where required, we carry out dead testing of circuits including insulation resistance and continuity measurements, providing results for inclusion in your Electrical Installation Condition Report. We work under the direction of your appointed registered contractor throughout, ensuring all testing is carried out and certified correctly.

Life safety system inspection

Inspection of emergency lighting, fire alarm systems and other life safety electrical installations at height is also within our scope. We work to the relevant British Standards and provide test records in the format required by your system maintainer, supporting your ongoing compliance obligations and fire safety file.

Why Think Access

Thorough electrical inspection is only possible when all parts of the installation can be safely accessed. Think Access fills the access gap, enabling your electrical contractor to carry out a complete and compliant inspection.

F.A.Q’s

The EICR is issued by the registered contractor carrying out the electrical inspection. We provide the access and can provide our operatives to support the inspection process, but the certificate is issued by the qualified electrical inspector.

Yes, in most cases. We work with your electrical contractor and building management to plan the inspection sequence to minimise disruption, using appropriate isolation and permit-to-work arrangements where circuits need to be de-energised.
