What we do

Smoke & heat detector installation

The correct placement of smoke and heat detectors is critical to the reliable performance of any fire detection system. In high-bay environments, detectors must be positioned at heights and spacings that comply with BS 5839-1 and the requirements of your fire detection system design. Our rope access teams install detectors at precisely the specified positions, regardless of ceiling height.

Wiring & system connections

We work to the system designer’s layout drawings, fixing detector bases and heads, running or connecting wiring, and coordinating with your fire system contractor on loop or zone connections. Where existing detector positions need to be changed due to racking changes, operational alterations or a system upgrade, we carry out the relocation works with minimal disruption to operations.

Alarm devices & manual call points

We also install alarm sounders, visual alarm devices, manual call points at elevation, and associated backboxes and cable management as part of the same operation. All installations are carried out in accordance with BS 5839 and the manufacturer’s installation instructions, ensuring the complete system is installed consistently to the required standard.

Coordination with your fire system contractor

Our role is to provide the access capability and physical installation support that makes high-level fire detection works achievable without costly temporary access. We work under the direction of your fire system contractor throughout, ensuring all technical decisions on loop design, zone configuration and device settings remain with the qualified system specialist.

Why Think Access

Fire detection coverage depends on correct detector placement, and correct placement depends on being able to reach the right position at the right height. Think Access makes this achievable in any building.

F.A.Q’s

We can carry out wiring and connections under the supervision of your fire system contractor. Final commissioning and panel programming is carried out by the system maintainer or installer.

We assess the structure and identify the best available fixing position within acceptable tolerance of the design position. Where compromises are necessary, we discuss with the system designer before proceeding.
