Passive Fireproofing and Sealant Application via Rope Access

Think Access applies intumescent coatings, cementitious spray fireproofing and fire-stopping sealants to structural steelwork and service penetrations at height using IRATA rope access. We deliver compliant passive fire protection in locations inaccessible by conventional means.

Scope at a glance

Intumescent coatings

Columns & beams · Trusses & connections · Heat-activated expansion · Structural steel at any height

Cementitious fireproofing

Pump & spray application · Thicker protection profiles · Masking & dust control · Operational buildings

Fire-stopping & penetrations

Intumescent collars · Mortar filling · Fire pillows & sealants · Compartment integrity · Inaccessible voids

What we do

Intumescent coatings to structural steelwork

Passive fire protection applied to structural steelwork is essential to maintain structural stability during a fire, buying time for evacuation and limiting the extent of structural damage. Intumescent coatings, which expand when exposed to heat, insulating the steel, are applied to columns, beams, trusses and connections at any height accessible by rope access.

Cementitious spray fireproofing

Cementitious spray fireproofing is used where thicker protection is required or where intumescent products are not appropriate for the environment. We apply these products using pump and spray equipment, with masking and dust control measures appropriate to the working environment, including facilities that remain operational during the works.

Fire-stopping at service penetrations

Fire-stopping at service penetrations through compartment walls and floors is a critical element of building fire safety that is often neglected in inaccessible locations. We install intumescent collars, mortar fillings, fire-stopping pillows and sealants at penetrations that are only reachable by rope access, restoring compartment integrity where previous works have left unprotected voids.

Documentation & compliance records

All passive fire protection works are documented with photographic evidence of substrate condition, product application and completed installations. Records include product data sheets, batch numbers and coverage rates, providing the evidence base required for building control sign-off, insurance purposes and inclusion in the building’s fire safety file.

Why Think Access

Passive fire protection is only effective if it is correctly applied to specification at every relevant location. Think Access reaches every location and applies to the standard required, providing QA documentation to support building control and fire engineering sign-off.

F.A.Q’s

We are applicator-trained for several leading passive fire protection systems and can work with your specified product. We are familiar with the quality assurance requirements of systems from manufacturers including Nullifire, Sherwin-Williams Firetex and Promat.

Yes. We work within permit-to-work arrangements, with appropriate dust and overspray control measures. We coordinate with your operations team to minimise impact on production.
