Bird Proofing and Pest Control via Rope Access.

Think Access installs bird deterrent systems and pest exclusion measures on commercial buildings using IRATA rope access. We access ledges, parapets, roof voids and facade details that are inaccessible from ground level, providing effective and long-lasting deterrent and exclusion solutions.

What we do

Why physical deterrents are the right solution

Bird roosting and nesting on buildings creates hygiene hazards, accelerates building fabric deterioration and can cause significant operational disruption. Accumulated droppings on pedestrian areas create slip risks, while nesting in plant rooms and ventilation intakes causes blockages and equipment damage. Physical deterrent and exclusion systems are the most effective long-term solution, and rope access is the most practical way to install them at height.

Anti-roosting spike installation

We install anti-roosting spikes in stainless steel and polycarbonate on ledges, parapets, sills, soffits and beam flanges where birds perch. Spikes are fixed with adhesive or mechanical fixings as appropriate to the substrate, with the spike type selected based on the pest species and the width of the ledge being treated to ensure effective deterrence without unnecessary visual impact.

Exclusion netting for larger areas

For larger exclusion areas including roof voids, building cavities and open eaves, we install exclusion netting in appropriate mesh sizes to prevent access for the target species. Netting is tensioned and fixed carefully to avoid sag, gaps or entanglement risk, and is inspected on completion to confirm complete coverage of the exclusion zone.

Combined programmes & ongoing maintenance

Where buildings have multiple infestation points or a history of persistent problems, we develop combined programmes using spikes, netting and other physical measures in combination to address every roosting and nesting location in a single coordinated scope. We can also provide periodic inspection and maintenance visits to check system integrity and address any new access points that develop over time.

Why Think Access

Bird proofing installed by rope access teams covers every detail that ground-based contractors miss. Think Access gets to the awkward spots that matter most.

F.A.Q’s

Physical exclusion and deterrent systems are our primary approach. For persistent colony infestations, we recommend engaging a licensed pest control contractor in parallel, as physical systems alone may not be sufficient where a large established colony is present.

On unlisted buildings, bird proofing installations generally do not require planning consent. On listed buildings or buildings in conservation areas, advice should be sought from your local planning authority before works proceed.
