What we do

External tank & silo cleaning

External tank and silo cleaning removes atmospheric soiling, biological growth, corrosion products and old paint preparation material from the exterior of elevated storage vessels. This is a prerequisite for surface inspection, coating application and routine maintenance. Our rope access teams work efficiently around the full circumference and height of any vessel, without the need for scaffold or cradles.

Interior cleaning with confined space entry

Interior cleaning of silos and tanks requires confined space entry procedures in addition to rope access capability. Where vessels contain residues of previous contents, we clean by hand, by water jetting or by vacuum extraction depending on the material and the cleanliness standard required. We work within a confined space permit, with continuous atmospheric monitoring and standby rescue in place throughout every interior operation.

Hygiene-critical cleaning programmes

For silos and tanks used for food, pharmaceutical or chemical storage, we carry out cleaning to the hygiene standards required for the next product, including documented clean-down procedures, chemical sanitisation where required and pre-entry inspection. All cleaning activities are recorded to provide the audit trail required for food safety, pharmaceutical GMP and chemical handling compliance.

Inspection-ready surfaces

Clean external and internal surfaces allow thorough inspection of the vessel substrate identifying corrosion, coating breakdown, structural defects and weld condition that would be obscured by contamination. We coordinate cleaning and inspection visits to maximise the value of each mobilisation, providing a clean, inspected vessel ready for coating, repair or return to service in a single programme of work.

We can clean sections of large tanks while others remain in service, if the tank configuration permits. For most cleaning operations, the vessel must be fully emptied, isolated and purged before entry.
