Confined Space Inspection via Rope Access.

Think Access carries out inspections inside tanks, shafts, culverts, vessels and enclosed spaces using IRATA rope access in combination with confined space entry procedures. We provide detailed condition assessments from inside difficult-to-access spaces, supported by our trained standby rescue team.

What we do

Confined space inspection capability

Confined space inspection is required for internal assessment of storage tanks, sewage structures, water retaining structures, industrial vessels, sumps, ducts and shafts where visual inspection from the entry point is insufficient. Rope access allows our inspection teams to enter vertically, positioning themselves at any level within the space for close-range assessment of every surface and element.

Safe entry procedures

All confined space entry is conducted under a formal entry permit, with pre-entry atmospheric testing for oxygen, flammable gas and toxic vapours. Continuous monitoring is maintained throughout the inspection, and our standby team is positioned at the entry point ready to respond to any deterioration in conditions or an emergency requiring rescue. No entry takes place until all atmospheric and permit conditions are confirmed satisfactory.

Inspection findings & defect mapping

Inspection findings within confined spaces are documented photographically, with defects mapped to a sketch plan of the vessel or space interior. Condition assessments cover coating integrity, corrosion, structural defects, seal condition and the presence of debris or sedimentation requiring removal. This structured approach ensures every area of the space is covered and every finding is precisely located for remedial planning.

Supporting asset integrity programmes

Confined space inspection data feeds directly into asset integrity management programmes, supporting maintenance planning, fitness-for-service assessments and regulatory compliance for pressure vessels, water retaining structures and process plant. We work alongside your inspection authority, appointed engineer or asset manager to deliver inspections in the format and to the standard required for your specific asset type and regulatory framework.

Why Think Access

Confined space inspection from the inside, with a trained rope access and rescue team providing the capability to reach every point safely, is the most thorough and informative inspection method available. Think Access delivers it to a consistent and documented standard.

F.A.Q’s

Yes. Our NDT-qualified inspectors can carry UT equipment into confined spaces for wall thickness measurement, supplementing visual inspection with quantitative corrosion assessment.

Our atmospheric monitors provide continuous warning. If any toxic, oxygen-deficient or flammable condition is detected, all personnel evacuate immediately using the pre-planned rescue procedure. Our standby team provides immediate response.
