Heavy Load Positioning via Rope Access.
Think Access carries out controlled positioning of heavy loads at height using IRATA rope access rigging systems. We manoeuvre large plant, structural components and equipment into position in locations where cranes cannot reach or where precision placement requires human guidance at the installation point.

What we do

When heavy load positioning via rope access is needed
Heavy load positioning via rope access is used when crane or MEWP access to the final installation position is impractical in plant rooms accessed through small openings, on rooftops with restricted crane reach, within structures where lifting equipment cannot be positioned close enough to the final location, or where the installation requires guidance at height that cannot be provided from the ground.

Rigging planning & sequence design
Our rigging teams plan each heavy load operation in advance, calculating safe working loads, designing rigging arrangements, specifying anchor points and planning the full sequence of movements from lifting point to final installation position. We work in conjunction with the crane or hoist operator, acting as the high-level team that receives, guides and places the load precisely where it needs to go.

Equipment certification & lift plans
All rigging equipment used in heavy load operations is certified, within test date and appropriate for the loads being handled. We provide lift plans for operations above defined weight thresholds, covering rigging arrangement, anchor point assessment, load path and contingency arrangements. These plans are shared with the client and principal contractor before any lift takes place.

Pre-lift briefing & team coordination
We carry out toolbox talks with all team members before each lift, covering the method statement, individual roles, communication protocol and emergency arrangements. Clear communication between the ground team, crane operator and high-level positioning team is essential to safe and efficient heavy load operations our pre-lift process ensures every team member understands exactly what is expected of them before the lift begins.
Why Think Access
Heavy loads in places that cranes can’t reach are where rope access rigging makes the biggest difference. Think Access provides this capability with the engineering rigour that heavy lifts require.
