Fall Arrest Netting Installation via Rope Access.

Think Access installs fall arrest safety netting for construction and refurbishment sites using IRATA rope access. Our nets protect workers operating above open floors, voids and roof structures, installed to BS EN 1263-1 and BS EN 1263-2 by FASET-qualified operatives.

What we do

Fall arrest net installation

Fall arrest nets are a collective protective measure that catches workers who fall before they reach a lower level, reducing the severity of injury in a fall event. They are widely used on concrete frame construction, steel frame erection, roof installation and refurbishment projects where individual fall restraint is impractical for all workers in the area. We install nets below the working level, tensioning them between anchorage points on the structure at the correct spacing and depth below the working plane.

System selection & specification

Net system selection including mesh size, border rope specification and anchor capacity is based on the height of fall, the weight of the occupancy and the net class required for the application. We assess each installation individually and select the appropriate system to meet the requirements of BS EN 1263-1 and the specific conditions on site.

Certification & conformity

Following installation we issue a conformity certificate confirming that the net has been installed in accordance with BS EN 1263-2 and the FASET Code of Practice. This certificate forms part of the site safety file and provides the principal contractor with the documented evidence required to demonstrate that collective fall protection is in place.

Periodic inspection & repositioning

We carry out periodic inspections during the course of the works to confirm nets remain correctly tensioned, undamaged and fit for purpose as the programme progresses. Where the works sequence requires nets to be repositioned or extended, we carry out this work promptly to ensure continuous protection throughout the construction programme.

Why Think Access

Rope access is frequently the most practical way to install fall arrest netting because the anchor points are themselves at height. Our teams reach every anchor position quickly, tensioning nets correctly and providing fully certified installations.

F.A.Q’s

BS EN 1263 specifies maximum fall heights for different net classes. The maximum fall height from the working level to the lowest point of the installed net depends on the net class — our team will advise based on your specific situation and design the installation accordingly.

Yes. Fall arrest nets are commonly installed as temporary protection below roof level during re-roofing, particularly on industrial and commercial buildings where the working area is above an operational space.
